After breakfast in the morning, proceed for Jatayu earth's center located at a small village called Chadayamangalam in Kollam (around 50 kms from Trivandrum). Its assumed that this is the place where – Jatayu, a demi-god of Hindu epic "Ramayana" having the form of a vulture, fought with Ravana - multi headed demon king of Lanka (now Sri Lanka) to prevent kidnapping of Goddess Sita, and got slain off one of his wing. The giant concrete statue of Jatayu is built on a mighty rock named Jatayupara (para means rock in Malayalam). The colossal statue is 200 feet long, 150 feet wide and 70 feet making is the largest functional bird sculpture in the world. You can take a cable car ride (on supplementary cost) to visit the Jatayu statue, audio visual museum and mini theatre. Cable car can be booked online in advance. Jatayu earth's center is spread across four hills in Chadayamangalam. The Jatayu Rock Hill represents the safety of women and their honour. The Adventure Rock Hill offers many adventure activities and nature walk. Adventure activities (all on supplementary cost) include paintball, rifle shooting, chimney climbing, rappelling, bouldering, etc. At Elephant Rock Hill, you can enjoy an overnight stay here in tented camps.
